Three! Three!

We're loving all the spring weather, lately. We are outside constantly. It's fantastic.

She now tells us "Three! Three! Three!" when she wants B to throw her in the air. He counts to three so that's "fly high" in her language.

And That's the End of That.

+ The last few weeks have been an emotional roller coaster for me. Apparently, weaning can cause the EXACT same symptoms of early pregnancy. Symptoms I have never experienced except when pregnant. But pregnancy it is not. Whew. Actually, let me rephrase that: WHEW!!!

+ So, yes, nursing has come to an end, all of J's choosing. This was surprising to me as I assumed all children would breastfeed into enternity if given the option. She gradually let each feeding session drop over the last couple of months until she finally stopped completely. She doesn't ask or cry for it. Which means after two years of pregnancy plus nursing, my body is all mine again! Hooray!

+ J is a little sponge and I enjoy teaching her. We worked for about two weeks on all the hand motions to the song "Wheels on the Bus." She wasn't very interested until I took her to a story time at the library and they sang the same song. She seemed geniunely surprised that all the other kids and adults in the room doing the same gestures were just as crazy as her mom! She stood up and applauded when it was over. Since then, she's been doing the motions and really into singing funny songs altogether.

+ She is learning so many new words now but still understands more than she will verbalize. I can ask her to do a variety of tasks: put this in the trash, close the door, wipe your nose, find your shoes, and many more. Here's hoping that "go potty" will be on that list very soon. Oh, and "pour mama a glass of wine."

+ We've memorized many Dr. Suess books from sheer repetition. Sometimes I dream about the jertain behind the curtain. I'm almost certain.

+ J goes swimming every week, plus many other activities with different good friends of mine and each of their little girls the same age as J. It preserves my sanity and hers. Being a stay-at-home mom is not without disadvantages but seems only to be boring or lonely if you want it to be. I keep us busy and we have a lot of fun these days.

We live on a Christmas tree farm (some of you who know me from my online-debating days may laugh at this). When we take walks around the loop, J likes to hang out in the trees. I think she likes it because I have to duck down to her level to get in there.

2010 was fantastic. The year was a lot different since it was the first full year we had a little girl rambling around the house. They say that the passage of time is more noticeable when you have kids. That certainly seems to be true. We've only been in Nashville for a year and a half now, but it feels as if we've lived here for a longer time.

In 2010 we visited J's great grandmother in St. Louis.
